The Evaluation meeting of World Heritage Campaign took place in Ossmannstedt Seminar Venue which belongs to the World Heritage site “Classical Weimar” from the 2ND until the 7th of November. The meeting was organized by UNESCO World Heritage Centre, Open Houses Germany and the Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service (CCIVS) and hosted by Open Houses. The main aims of the meeting were to give a feedback on the World Heritage Campaign 2014, share existing practices and experiences to enhance the projects.
There were 13 participants with representatives of all regions which held World Heritage voluntary: Africa, Arab States, Asia, Latin America, and Europe. During the first day, after a discussion about participants’ expectations, each representative of the organisations made a report on their project, some of them having brought a video. The two next days were consecrated to the issues, challenges, and needs that organisations encountered during the implementation of their projects. A workshop in regional groups permits to deal with those topics in depth.
The meeting included a guided tour through Anna Amalia Historical Library, which was partly destroyed by a fire in 2004 and restored from 2006. This visit provided a good example on how
to deal with heritage. On day four, all the participants went to European Fair Trade for Conservation, Restoration and Old Buildings Renovation held in the Congress Centre of Leipzig where a stall presented the World Heritage Volunteers programme.
The World Heritage Centre, Open Houses, and CCIVS gave a feedback on the last campaign and presented the next steps for applying 2015 campaign.
The Evaluation meeting was an opportunity to strengthen partnerships and to share the best practices of each organisation present.
