Living Earth campaign

The Living Earth campaign (LIVE), is the culmination of CCIVS work on Peace and the Environment, replacing the campaigns IVS for Climate Justice and Raising Peace, it seeks to focus on what it means to live a peaceful and harmonious existence on Earth and respect towards the Earth as a living being.

Working for peace is implicit in what we do day-to-day as IVS organisations, environmental work and awareness-raising and education is the enactment of peace itself. All of our activities should focus on inclusion, living and working respectfully together according to the principles of non-violent communication and promoting grassroots initiatives that put communities at the forefront of the actions.

Examples of work that CCIVS can promote on behalf of IVS organisations or projects that can be implemented by CCIVS fall under three categories ‘Hand on Actions’, ‘Awareness Raising’ and ‘Advocacy and Visibility’, these include and are not limited to:

Hands on Actions

  • Environmental clean-up operations
  • Disaster relief in case of natural disasters
  • Reduce and Reuse -waste reduction
  • Establishing local food distribution networks
  • Regenerative agriculture, natural gardening, composting and no pesticide use
  • Stopping deforestation and supporting ecosystem regeneration and restoration
  • Natural building
  • Soil conservation
  • Access to clean water
  • Marine conservation
  • Safeguarding of wildlife and natural heritage
  • Improving opportunities for walking, cycling and slow travel
  • Supporting and working with people displaced by climate events and climate refugees

awareness Raising and Education

  • Reduction of waste
  • Promoting a circular economy and production models that put people and planet in the centre instead of money
  • Promoting local food distribution
  • The removal of plastics from our daily activities and sensibilisation concerning plastics
  • Resilient communities, community supported agriculture food sovereignty
  • Peaceful cohabitation with other species and within the planet’s limits
  • Acting according to the principles of non-violence
  • Embracing diversity
  • Travel and how to limit our carbon footprint and air pollution
  • Capacity building and empowerment of activists
