Kosovo signs the Agreement to increase their participation in Erasmus+

Commissioner Navracsics signed the Agreement together with the Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Mr Bytyqi Shyqeri.

On 5 June Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, Tibor Navracsics, signed the Agreement which will increase Kosovo’s participation in Erasmus+.

By upgrading its participation, Kosovo will continue participating in the international dimension of the programme as partner country but will be able to benefit from different European policy support networks such as the European Qualifications Framework, Eurydice, Europass and Euroguidance and electronic platforms (including eTwinning and EPALE). This brings it on equal footing with its Western Balkan neighbours as well as the EU Member States when it comes to those policy support networks.

Commissioner Navracsics stressed the importance of keeping the momentum in the region. This comes after the adoption of the new EU-Western Balkan Strategy in February and the Sofia Summit in May to ensure a seamless continuation of the Western Balkan’s participation in the Erasmus+ programme in the coming years. Kosovo’s upgraded participation could add value in terms of their European perspective and should be seen as a valuable next step towards the EU.

The achievement will be highlighted during the upcoming 7th Ministerial Platform on Education and Training, taking place in Brussels on 25-26 June 2018.
